Illustrative of the collaboration possible when Catholic healthcare organizations in the United States team with CMMB is the initiative involving St. Joseph’s Mercy Fraser Health Center in Michigan, which was proud to send a team of medical volunteers to Honduras in 2006. The team hand-carried CMMB-donated medicines in suitcases, and partnered with Honduran-based Jesuit medical groups to organize health fairs for the 30,000 to 50,000 people living in the rural mountainous region of Yoro. During the 10-day trip, the team distributed medicines and basic medical information to people in their homes, reaching over 2,000 people.
