CMMB volunteers
may address immediate needs through direct patient
care as well as through medical training to help
upgrade the skills of local healthcare providers.
In all our volunteer placements, the ultimate
goal is to help local personnel assume the role
of provider as well as educator, so that they
in turn can pass on their skills within the community.
Licensing
Requirements
CMMB limits placement of volunteers to those
who hold U.S. or Canadian licenses. CMMB accepts
volunteers of all faiths; a CMMB volunteer does
not need to be a Catholic.
Time Commitment
Most of CMMB's overseas missions prefer a fairly
long-term commitment typically one year or more.
CMMB sometimes offers some shorter-term placements
of one month to six months.
Destination Countries
CMMB places volunteers in many countries all
over the world, and we are constantly finding
new volunteer opportunities. Within the past
year, CMMB has sent volunteers to Belize, Cameroon,
China, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador,
Ecuador, Ghana, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras,
India, Jamaica, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru,
South Africa, St. Lucia, Swaziland, Thailand,
Uganda and Zambia.

does not offer opportunities for medical students,
other students, or for healthcare providers working
in fields of training that are unique to the
United States, such as EMTs and CNAs. See relevant organizations >>
